1. I write drafts of almost every thank you note that I send, not only for appropriate wording but also to insure that the pen that I am using does not adversely affect the quality of my script.
2. I began drafting my shower and wedding gift thank you notes a couple of weeks ago as gifts began disappearing from my registry. My theory is that the less spontaneous I am in preparing them, the more spontaneous they will sound.
3a. For my shower gifts I purchased two styles of thank you notes. Both are somewhat casual, but one is geared towards my mother's friends and older family members and the other is geared toward my friends and younger cousins.
3b. For my wedding, however, I will be using ivory or ecru cards.
4. I should have started writing them while I was sick last week, but I wanted to wait until I got a fountain pen. I want to write exclusively with fountain pens. I tried several fountain pens at Quill and Press in Acton, Massachusetts but was not impressed with any that I could afford. I asked if they had any calligraphy sets. I bought another Sheaffer beginner set for $20.00.
5. I am also going to buy sealing wax and a seal, hopefully a celtic knot.
